Solar and Photovoltaic Power

• Provision of risk management advisory services and technical analysis for the construction of a 100MW solar plant in the UAE. Detailed risk and exposure research and analysis undertaken combined with advice on construction risk management practices, all of which were subsequently utilised by the client for further expansion phases.
• Development of a solar power project model designed to support rural electrification in sub-Saharan Africa through phased development, supported by multi-lateral funding.
• Development of the largest photovoltaic power plant in Italy inclusive of advice and consultancy on weather related exposures combined with traditional construction related risks.
• Risk management advice and consultancy for a client’s solar business in Hawaii. Advisory service identified risk characteristics coupled with proposals for mitigation tools and best practice techniques, subsequently implemented by the client to great effect.
• Provision of risk management advice for client’s solar portfolio of business in Italy. Detailed review identified numerous improvements to risk management best practices leading to improved profitability across the client’s portfolio.

Geothermal Power

• Development of an insurance backed risk mitigation product designed to stimulate early stage investment into geothermal power projects in Kenya, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Mexico and the Philippines.
• Planning and early stage development of a 140MW geothermal power project in East Africa. Worked as part of the project team during negotiations to secure the Power Purchase Agreement for the project.

Wind Power

• Provision of risk management advisory services and insurance due diligence for the development of the first offshore wind farm to be constructed in Italy.
• Creation of new modelling and exposure risk management tools for one of the world’s leading insurers in the onshore wind energy sector. The implementation of the new tools enabled improved profitability for the client’s onshore wind energy business in the USA and Australia.
• Advice and analysis on behalf of the vendor of major wind energy assets to challenge the asset valuation for sale. Conducted peer group research and operational performance analysis to demonstrate that the assets had been undervalued, ultimately leading to a higher sale price secured for the vendor.
• Risk management advice and consultancy to the investors in a Special Purpose Vehicle operating one of the largest UK onshore wind portfolios to address concerns raised regarding the performance of the flagship windfarm.
• Advice and analysis on behalf of a major asset owner seeking to place a significant order of wind turbines. Proprietary data and analytical tools deployed to analyse the operational performance and risk management program.

Hydro

• Risk management advice and consultancy on behalf of clients for numerous hydroelectric power plants in the Latin America region, inclusive of the 14GW Itaipu facility on the Brazil/Paraguay border.

Biomass & Waste to Energy

• Creation of Public Private Partnership between our client and the Senegalese government for a waste to energy scheme in Dakar.
• Risk management advisory and consultancy services to a leading UK biomass facility. Detailed technical risk and exposure analysis utilised by the client in the construction phase were subsequently employed for future expansion programmes.
• Operational review on behalf of a client with performance issues in its portfolio of waste to energy business in the UK, Scandinavia, Western Europe and Asia. Recommended remedial activities which led to improved performance and profitability across the portfolio.
